Top Tips for Writing Constructive Customer Reviews

Constructive reviews are the key to guiding other shoppers to make the best choices. They’re also much more likely to grab the attention of the business you’re reviewing. Ready to inspire change with your reviews? Here are some tips to help you write them.

🕜 Do it Immediately

The quicker you write your review, the better. Why? Well, the information will be fresh in your mind and the business will be able to swiftly take action.

🛁 Keep it Clean

To ensure your review gets published, avoid using words that would make your grandma blush. Any swear words, offensive language, or simply saying “scam” could get your review removed. Stick to the facts and be polite. Take a look at our Content Guidelines if you need a refresher.

🗒️ Give Specifics

To write a constructive review, paint a vivid picture of your experience. In detail, explain what made your day (or didn’t). The best reviews help businesses understand their strengths and flaws, so remember to pinpoint what the company did well and where they can do better.

The more specific you are, the better. Include details like dates and times of your experience. This info helps businesses pinpoint issues and fix them. Avoid vague statements like ‘Terrible service!’ without adding context.

If a customer service rep was especially helpful, mention what they did. If the service was a flop, describe what went wrong and how they could do better in the future. Sharing the specifics also helps other potential customers understand better what happened.

📧  Share Their Email Address With Us

You can still share your feedback if you can’t find the business you want to review on Hellopeter. Simply add their email address to the space provided when posting your review. We’ll then use it to let the company know you wrote them a review. You can usually find an email address by looking at the footer or contact page of their website, or you’ll often find it in their social media bios.

If you skip this step, there’s no way for the business to know about your review unless they go look for it. Therefore, it’s the most important step when giving a business their first Hellopeter review.

🌐 Use Hellopeter.com, Not Social Media

On average, 69% of reviews published on hellopeter.com get a reply from the business reviewed. If you want the business to see and respond to your feedback, use Hellopter’s official review platform. Simply posting on our Facebook page makes it unlikely they’ll get the message, and as an impartial platform we simply connect you with businesses.

😊 Be Friendly and Respectful

Keep your tone friendly and respectful. Even if you had a lousy experience, a calm and polite review is more likely to get a positive response from the business. Avoid name-calling and just describe what happened. This encourages businesses to get back to you and fix what’s broken.

🖋️ Update Your Review if Things Change

If your issue gets resolved, be sure to update your review. Although you can’t edit your original review, you can add a comment about how the business came back and addressed the problem, which gives a more honest picture of what happened and how the company handles feedback. Everyone loves a happy ending!

✅ Proofread Before Posting

Make sure your review is error-free by proofreading before you hit ‘post.’ Check for typos, correct grammar, and accurate details. A well-written review is far more likely to be taken seriously by businesses and other readers. You can use plugins like Grammarly to check your language as you type – a life-saver!

🔒 Keep Personal Info Private

Don’t include personal info like name, phone numbers or contact details in your reviews. Keep private things private and focus on the business and your experience. This will protect everyone’s privacy and prevent your review from being removed.

⭐ Write Constructive Reviews on Hellopeter

Always remember that there’s another human being behind the screen reading your review, and they have family, friends, and a job to protect. So, be gentle and think before you publish. When you use Hellopeter to share your feedback, you significantly increase your chances of getting a reply from the business. Follow these tips to help you write constructive reviews that stand out and make your voice heard today.
